The amazing sequel to Sunset Piano
This past February, Half Moon Bay’s beloved artist, musician, yogini, Mauro ffortissimo (with a host of other Bay Area musicians, dancers, and fire-spinners), entertained and inspired thousands on the bluff at the end of Kelly Avenue in Half Moon Bay.
And it didn’t stop there!
The sunset piano recitals were enjoyed by a growing crowd of participants and seen far and wide covered by major print, radio, TV, and, of course, via social media and the Internet.
Now Mauro, with a little help from his friends, is about to launch the long-awaited sequel–Sunset Piano Opus Two. This time it will include 12 pianos strategically placed along the San Mateo coast. Musicians from around the Bay Area will be joining Mauro and the experience will be recorded and shared via the internet. No doubt the whales will be there as well, as a human pod of talented musicians play music alongside their fragile ocean habitat.
Do you want to be a part of this truly team effort? Here are a few ideas:
1. Join the Sunset Piano Facebook page (and check out the video of Mauro and others hauling a piano up the hill above Mavericks this past week.)
2. Follow the activity via twitter for up-to-the-minute notifications of when musicians are playing the 12 pianos.
3. Check out the Sunset Piano webpage and the great footage of Sunset Piano Opus One.
4. Last but not least, please help fund the project via the Kickstarter campaign: Sunset Piano Opus Two for Twelve Pianos

My favorite inspiring bass player and good friend John Heard will be playing with his trio at the Healdsburg Jazz Festival this Saturday, June 11, 2011. Don’t miss him he is legendary and any bass player should go see him …it promises to be a great show. He has an incredible feeling and a great soloist and an artist.
Exciting music and a great turnout at Yoshi’s with Ancient Future. It was enjoyable and many of the fans had a great time. The audience wanted to know who was the bass and cello player since I was not an original member of the band. Check out Matthew Montfort.
